Puppy Application Process:
We require all interested families to fill out our puppy application. Once you fill out a puppy application I will review them and set up a phone call to chat with our potential families to answer any questions you have and to make sure we are a good fit for each other. Once your application is approved I will let you know where you are in line to pick your puppy. If you choose to move forward after the application process you will submit your $800 non-refundable deposit that will put you on our Master List along with your reservation fee agreement.

As the Breeder, I reserve the right to the first pick of every litter. I may not always choose to keep that spot and will move up people on the list and fill the other spots as necessary.

If at ANY POINT, the breeder feels you are no longer a safe or “right fit” for one of our puppies, I reserve the right to stop the process and no longer sell to you.
My puppies’ safety and well-being are our highest priority.

The 3 Labrador Colors:
Here at O'Brien Labrador Retrievers, we do NOT breed silver or charcoal Labradors. We only breed dogs that are dilute-free. Labrador Retrievers truly only come in three colors. Those colors are Black, Chocolate, and Yellow. When breeding yellows we can either get a light yellow or a yellow/dark red fox.
When having litters we can never guarantee colors. I know some people have preferences but that can lead to a longer wait time for a puppy. We ask that you keep your options open. There is so much more to a puppy than colors or looks.

Choosing your puppy:
Once our puppies reach 6-7 weeks of age we do puppy evaluations/temperament testing that is provided by the Badass Breeder curriculum. Doing the Puppy Evaluations helps me make sure you get a puppy that is right for you. When doing these evaluations we focus on 12 traits. These 12 traits are assertiveness, confidence, motivation level, nerve strength/resiliency, touch tolerance, energy level, sound sensitivity, sight sensitivity, prey drive, human focus, tenderhearted, and dog friendliness. Once temperament testing is completed I will email scorecards to families (in order of our Master List) to make sure they pick the right puppy for their family on go-home day.

Picking up your puppy:
A week before "gotcha day" I will email families in order on our Master List with a day and time to come to pick up their puppy. Families will have a time frame of 30-45 minutes to come and pick up their puppy. If for some reason the drive is too far for you we will be willing to drive and meet families halfway but there will be an extra fee.
If you are located out of state and are interested in one of our puppies we can meet you at one of the closest airports (Oakland or San Jose) for your puppy to ride in the cabin with you. There is an extra fee for a pet carrier. If you would like us to deliver to you we would be willing to do that but plane tickets and carrier will be at your expense.

Spay and Neuter Policy:
All of our puppies are sold on a strict Spay and Neuter contract. Our puppies are sold as pets and companions only. We do NOT offer breeding rights. Please do not ask because the answer will be no. ALL of our puppies have to be Spayed or Neutered between 18-24 months of age. Proof of the Spay or Neuter certificate will need to be emailed to us at obrienlabradorretrievers@gmail.com within seven (7) days of the completed procedure. If you do not spay and neuter your puppy/dog and fail to provide us with proof of the certificate your puppy’s health guarantee will become void.
If you choose to go against our no-breeding policy and breed your puppy/dog legal action will be taken.
